This blog was created to keep our family and friends up-to-date during our adoption adventure! Our little guy, Dominic, is in Guatemala and we can't wait to bring him home! *** As of March 30, 2006, we are home and enjoying our new life as a family!

The News We've All Been Waiting For!

We are PINK! We received our pink slip today and we are off to Guatemala this Sunday morning. Our embassy appointment is Tuesday at 7:15 am. We will be flying back to Philadelphia on Thursday with OUR SON! Can you believe it? FINALLY! Thank you to everyone for your love, prayers and kindness. I think we are ready to go here . . . just need to put everything in suitcases and get to the airport. We have lots of gifts for Dominic's foster family. We are very excited to see them again even though I am sure this meeting will be very hard for his foster family. They are so kind and they love him so much; we hope that we will be able to contact them in the future. Friday will be my last day in school until next year so I have lots of things prepare. We are so, so, SO happy! Again, thank you so much to everyone for your love and support. I'm sorry that we didn't get to call each of you personally with the good news, but I know that Dominic's fan club checks the blog on a regular basis! I'll post before we leave and, of course, when we come home! :)

What WONDERFUL news!!!! I have been checking here 10 times a day for any news from you! FINALLY! It was this hard for me to be patient, I can only imagine what it was like for you! The picture and post of your good news brought tears to my eyes. A child's love is truly the best thing in life - I'm so happy that you and Frank will finally have your little boy. I've said this before, but he truly is beautiful and appears to be a very sweet baby. Much love to your new family...

Our Adoption Timeline

• 6/1/05: Met with agency and asked a million questions about the adoption process.
• 6/21/05: Signed with agency.
• 7/30/05: Fingerprinting for INS approval.
• 8/26/2005: Home study visit.
• 8/29/05: Received completed copy of home study.
• 9/5/05: Dominic Carlos arrives!
• 9/14/05: Accepted referral; not yet paper ready! (2nd Reading of Adoption Law about to take place)
• 9/21/05: Dossier #1 sent to Guatemala with POA, without INS approval.
• 9/24/05: Name mistake! New copy of POA completed and sent to Guatemala.
• 9/27/05: Dossier #1 MIA in transit; time to make a new dossier.
• 10/4/05: Dossier #2 completed and with agency.
• 10/7/05: Dossier #1 found and arrives safely in Guatemala.
• 10/12/05: Finally INS approval; the adoption process can begin in Guatemala.
• 10/31/05: DNA test/social worker interview completed.
• 11/11/05: Positive DNA results sent to US Embassy in Guatemala.
• 12/8/05: Received US Embassy preapproval in Guatemala.
• 12/19/05: Out of Family Court.
• 12/21/05: Entered PGN.
• 1/17 to 19/06: Amazing visit with Dominic!
• 1/24/06: PGN wants additional documentation.
• 2/14/06: Back in PGN.
• 2/27/06: Out of PGN!
• 3/8/06: New birth certificate issued.
• 3/21/06: We're PINK!
• 3/26/06: On the way to Guatemala!
• 3/28/06: Embassy Appointment . . . he's ours forever!
• 3/30/06: We're home!
